TAYLOR MADE FARM was established in 1976 by the Taylor Family, specifically Duncan, Frank, Mark and Ben, the four sons of Joe Taylor, the manager of Gainesway Farm. The farm first consisted of leased properties to board broodmares, but after a few years, the operation moved to land owned by the senior Taylor, on a large parcel near Nicholasville, Kentucky. In 1986 the ownership of the farm passed to the sons, and the business has developed into one of the leading sale sconsignors in the world. Joe Taylor died in 2003 and the sons continue to run the operation. Taylor Made build a new stallion complex and in 1997, the brilliant UNBRIDLED'S SONG retired here, and the proven stallion SAINT BALLADO was brought from Ocala Stud in Florida.

SAINT BALLADO sired the champions Saint Liam and Ashado while standing here before his death following unsuccessful surgery on his neck in 2002. He was buried between the office and stallion barn, across from the graves of three top broodmares who lived at Taylor Made.

STICK TO BEAUTY was a stakes winner, and dam of Sprint Champion Gold Beauty, a great broodmare herself (dam of Dayjur) and four other stakes winners. HEDONIST won the Santa Anita Oaks-G1. KATIES was a champion and classic winner in Ireland, and dam of 5 stakes winners including the Japanese Champion Hishi Amazon. GOULASH produced the champion filly ASHADO and two other stakes winners.

UNBRIDLED'S SONG continues to reign as one of the top sires in the country. In 2003, the Kentucky Derby/Preakness winner Real Quiet was moved here from the Vinery in Kentucky, but was sold in 2007 to stand in Pennsylvania, where he died in 2010. -- A.P.
