OVERBROOK FARM, on the south side of Lexington, is the home of the tremendous Leading Sire, STORM CAT. It was also, briefly, the home of Epsom Derby winner THE MINSTREL, who came to Overbrook after the closing of Windfields Farm's Maryland division in 1988. He died after a bout of colic in September of 1990 and was buried at Overbrook. His best runners were L'EMIGRANT, MINSTRELLA, TREIZIEME, OPENING VERSE, and PALACE MUSIC (sire of CIGAR).

The first horse buried at Overbrook, however, was GRAND CANYON (by Fappiano), one of the best 2yos in training, a multiple G1 winner, who was euthanized in July of 1990 due to a leg injury and resulting laminitis. Other burials at the farm include the outstanding race mares MRS. PENNY (dam of 2 stakes winners), Epsom Oaks winner MYSTERIOUS, and the Argentine racemare TIZNA. Kentucky Oaks winner SEASIDE ATTRACTION was purchased by Overbrook Farm as a weanling. She produced 4 stakes winners including champion 2yo filly GOLDEN ATTRACTION (dam of GOLD TRADER), RED CARNIVAL, and the colts CAPE TOWN and CAPE CANAVERAL, both of which stand at Overbrook.

Other important mares buried here are BUZZ MY BELL (dam of Kentucky Derby winner GRINDSTONE), HOPESPRINGSETERNAL (dam of MISWAKI), STELLARETTE (dam of G1 winner CUDDLES), ALWAYS MINT (dam of MOUNTAIN CAT), CINEGITA (dam of STORM STAR, CHOCTAW RIDGE), MISS BETTY (dam of 4 stakes winners including RED ATTACK and HICKMAN CREEK), MY YELLOW BIRD (dam of champion BLUE FINN and FANCY RIBBONS), plus graded stakes winners COUNTRY CAT and BLACKSBURG. -- A.P.
