Il'mio SIRE: Herod - Tartar - (Old) Partner - Jigg - BYERLEY TURK. Byerley Turk Sire Line DAM: Mare by Blank - sister to Sejanus by Regulus - Cypron by Blaze - Salome/Selima by Bethell's Arabian - mare by Graham's Champion - mare by Darley Arabian - mare by Merlin (Family 26). Bay 1774. Bred by Lord Clermont. Ran in the late '70s against top company: placed second in a 1778 Newmarket Second Spring sweep, beaten by Highflyer, in 1779 won a sweep, 300 guineas each, at Newmarket, beating Eagle, Purity and Jupiter. Sired about ten foals listed in the GSB for various owners, including siblings Twig'em (1781) and Minos (1783, later Yorick), and Lord Derby's Blandish (1782). |
Imperator SIRE: Conductor - Matchem - Cade - GODOLPHIN ARABIAN. Godolphin Arabian Sire Line DAM: Carlina by Marske - mare by Blank - Dizzy by Driver - mare by Smiling Tom - Miss Hip by Oysterfoot - Virgin by (Ancaster) Merlin - Somerset mare by (Wharton's) Commoner - Coppin mare by Selaby Turk (Family 28). Brown 1776. Bred by Lord Clermont. Won nine races betwen 1779 and 1784, including the Grosvenor and Fortescue Stakes at Newmarket. Sired a number of good racehorses, such as Flyator (1783), and Pipator (1786, also sire) and his brother Harpator (1784). Also got a unnamed filly (1787) who was ancestress of Seabreeze, Simoon and Seakale; in all he sired around 30 foals. He died after only a few years at stud, in 1786.

Infant SIRE: GODOLPHIN ARABIAN. Godolphin Arabian Sire Line DAM: Brown Betty by Hobgoblin - mare by (Godolphin) Whitefoot - mare by Leedes - Moonah Barb mare (Family 21). Bay 1746. Bred by Francis, (2nd) Earl Godolphin, at his stud in Cambridgeshire, and sold to Brown and Smith and "went into Yorkshire." Moderate racehorse, not nearly as successful as his brother, Mizra (1749). Has only a couple of foals listed in the GSB: an unnamed filly (1760) became the dam of Mufti (1783), who was among the top of his generation on the racecourse. |
