This section focuses on racing. Important Races list the winners of classic and other notable races, including steeplechases, in Argentina, Austria, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, the Caribbean, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, United Arab Emirates, United States of America, Venezuela, and Yugoslavia. A Race Gazeteer offers a geographically organized guide to races and racing places in England and Ireland, along with diagrams of the principal courses. Steeplechasing takes a brief look at the history of chasing, with hyperlinks to related material. Champions of the Turf includes charts listing annual U.S.A. champions. Boston vs. Fashion is an account of one of the greatest American match races from the American Register. Racing in Australia looks as the geographic and social communities in that country.

The first installment in the Trainers section is an illustrated essay Les Anglais in France which surveys the history of racing in France and discusses many of the most important English training dynasties.

Gone Abroad is a section covering the transportation of horses across oceans. The Voyage of the Flora examines the log of the brigantine, Flora, on her 1767 trip from Whidby, England, to Charleston, South Carolina, and the care of the horses on board. Shipping to the Antipodes describes weary and perilous journeys from England to Australia and New Zealand.

Grave Matters is a unique collection of material on the graves of famous (and not so famous) thoroughbreds and standardbreds. It includes a geographic and an alphabetic index, and photographs of graves at famous farms and sites now transformed.
