BALLYLINCH STUD was established by Maj. Dermot McCalmont as home of the great racehorse THE TETRARCH, the famous "Spotted Wonder," who retired to stud here in 1914. The farm is located on the Mount Juliet Estate, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland. THE TETRARCH was undefeated on the track, although he did not race after the age of 3. At stud, despite serious fertility problems, he proved a leading sire (in 1919) and extremely influential, as sire of "the Flying Filly" MUMTAZ MAHAL, and the 2,000 Guineas winner TETRATEMA among his best.

TETRATEMA joined his sire at Ballylinch and was the leading sire of 1929. He sired ROYAL MINSTREL, MYROBELLA, and 2,000 Guineas winner, MR. JINKS. The latter likewise returned to Ballylinch to stud, although was not as successful as his forebears. Ballylinch is still an active thoroughbred stud standing stallions. -- A.P.
