New Zealand-bred Moifaa won the 1904 Grand National by eight lengths. The 17 hand gelding was then purchased for King Edward VII, but never won again and was soon thereafter was retired to the hunting fields of Leicestershire. He was a the King's favorite horse, and led the cortege, with the symbolic empty saddle, at his funeral in 1910. |
